Competitive Moat

A competitive moat is the durable advantage that makes it hard for competitors to displace you. In SaaS, moats include: data network effects (your product improves as more customers use it), workflow embedding (customers can't easily rip you out without disrupting operations), brand authority in a category, and ecosystem lock-in (deep integrations that create switching costs). Marketing can build a moat through content authority and brand — harder to buy than product features.

Real-World Example

For example, a company that has built topical authority in 'RevOps best practices' through 5 years of content production and community building has a marketing moat — even if a competitor builds the same features, they can't easily replicate that brand equity.
