Click-Through Rate (CTR)

CTR is the percentage of people who see your ad (or email) and click it. Formula: Clicks ÷ Impressions. Industry benchmarks vary wildly by channel: Google Search averages 5–10%, LinkedIn ads average 0.4–0.6%, email typically 2–5%. A high CTR on a bad landing page is wasted; a low CTR with a highly targeted audience can still drive pipeline. CTR is a signal of message-audience fit, not a proxy for campaign success.

Real-World Example

For example, a 0.3% CTR on a LinkedIn Sponsored Content campaign isn't necessarily a failure — if the audience is narrow and the post is generating qualified clicks from decision-makers at target accounts, it might be generating excellent pipeline.

At Cactus

We treat CTR as a creative and targeting health signal, not an end goal — optimizing it alongside downstream conversion rates.
